Two in Police cells over abduction of a minor

The kidnap survivor allegedly left home for school in the morning, but never returned.

KIDNAP

KABALE- Police in Kabale district have arrested two women suspected to have kidnapped a 13-year-old girl. According to Police, the suspects include Peace Bwesigye, 60, and Glorias Tibarihire, 55.

 Elly  Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, said Tibarihire is a resident of Rwabashenda village Kaharo parish whereas Bwesigye is a resident of Ryamujungu cell, Nyakasharara parish both of Kaharo sub-county Kabale district.

"They were arrested today for alleged abduction of one Shanitah Ampeire, a pupil in Kaharo Primary School and resident of Rwabashenyi cell who went missing days ago," said Maate.

He added that the kidnap survivor allegedly left home for school in the morning, but never returned.  

Speaking to New Vision, Maate said Ampeire's guardian, Emmanuel Twebaze, the director Vulnerable Children for Surgery Kabale, together with the headmaster Kaharo Primary school, Andrew Basesa and security mounted massive hunt.

"The girl was found in Bwesigye's home where she claims was taken there by Tibarihire. Inquiries underway to establish the motive for which they abducted her and thereafter the two culprits will  be arraigned before courts of law and charged accordingly," said Maate.
