FUFA Drum competition attracts thousands

The FUFA Drum is a newly created football tournament that is played among the 16 provinces in Uganda.

KAMPALA - There will be a lot at stake as the final matches of the group stages of the FUFA Drum Competition will be played this Sunday.
 
Forstarters, the competition that is its first edition has pulled big crowds across different parts of the country every time it's played.
 
The FUFA Drum is a newly created football tournament that is played among the 16 provinces in Uganda.
 
These include; Buganda, Lango, Tooro ,Karamoja,Kampala ,Ankole ,Bukedi ,Sebei,Busoga ,Bugisu, Kigezi ,Rwenzori,West Nile ,Bunyoro,Teso  and Acholi.
 
The provinces were placed into four groups and each is required to play six games in the group stages both home and away. The top two teams in each group will proceed to the two legged-quarter final.
 
In Group A, Busoga and Bugisu provinces who are joint top with 10 points are in must win situations to decide who will top the group.
 
 
Busoga hosts already struggling side Sebei at Kyabazinga  stadium,Bugembe while Bugisu faces tricky side Teso province away at Katakwi SS play Ground. Teso who are third in the group with eight points also have a chance to make it to the next round if they beat Bugisu.
 
In Group B, leaders Acholi (11 points) who made it the last eight will play Buganda away in Mukono while Lango will take on Kigezi. Buganda just needs to beat Acholi to qualify for the quarterfinal as number two in Group B.
 
In group C, Kampala province who top the group on 12 points and have already qualified to the quarterfinals face Bunyoro away at Masindi playground. Bukedi will play Rwenzori in Palisa in the other game of the group. The battle for second slot in Group C is between, Bunyoro, Bukedi and Rwenzori.
 
In Group D, leaders West Nile (11 points) who already qualified for the quarterfinals will face tricky side Ankole (6 points) at Kyamate ground,Ntungamo.  Tooro who are second in the group on seven points will travel to North East to play Karamoja.
 
Bugisu Province James Alitho leads the scoring chart with eight goals.
