Idd el-Fitr celebration for Friday

This means that Idd el-Fitr festival which is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslim will therefore be celebrated tomorrow Friday June, 15, 2018.

The Director of Sharia Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Sheikh Yahaya Kakungulu has announced that the moon has been sighted, marking an end to the Muslim fasting which began last month.

This means that Idd el-Fitr festival which is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslim will therefore be celebrated tomorrow Friday June, 15, 2018.

"I take this opportunity to inform the Muslim community that the moon has been sighted and therefore Idd el-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Friday)," he said.

Kakungulu also appeals to all those who fasted to pay Zakatul-Fitri before the Idd prayers and to fast the six days of Shawwal.

At the National Mosque - UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala, Idd el-Fitr prayers will be observed at 9:00am.

The prayers will be led by His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje.
