KAMPALA- The president of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) William Blick, has commended the Italian National Volley Ball team for sharing its experience with Ugandan players.
He said such connections with international players will improve Ugandan sports, including turning players into professionals.
He appealed to other international players in various sports to come and share their experience with Ugandans.
Blick made the remarks during a friendly game of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (CoRSU) volley ball team with Mano Nella Mano from Italy at Kisubi Wakiso district.
Mano Nella Mano had a five-day camp in Uganda, including visiting several teams across the country.
“It is a big opportunity to have international players to motivate Ugandans. Today the Ugandan volleyball team is ranked among the top team in Africa”, Blick said.
He appealed to schools to put in more emphasis in training students so that the game can become popular like other games.

The Italian Ambassador, Domenico Fornara, said the Italian team has come to Uganda for the second time.
Fornara said it will build opportunities for support to the needy children.
He said the volley ball team works closely with the disadvantaged communities and that is why they want to build support with SOS children’s Villages and CoRSU in Uganda which deal with children.
He said volley ball players coming together builds solidarity and they share techniques of the game.
Lillian Ssengooba, the National Programme Development Advisor SOS children’s Village, said the team shared volley ball ideas with children and donated to them playing kits.
Ssengooba said volley ball makes children active and as a sport, helps them to stay healthy.
