Despite completing the training camp in Niger with another loss, Uganda Cranes coach, Sebastian Desabre, says he is not worried about the performance of his team ahead of next round of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers in September.

"I am not afraid of this performance since I know the level and objective of my team," stated Desabre.

Cranes went down 2-1 to hosts Niger in the final build-up match on Saturday evening at Stade General Seyni Kountche.

This was Cranes second defeat in three days after losing to Central African Republic 1-0 in the first friendly on Wednesday.

Defender Nicholas Wadada scored Uganda's only goal against Niger towards the end of the second half.

Though the Cranes suffered two setbacks, Desabre was impressed by the progress of the team.

The two friendly matches are in preparation for the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Tanzania on September 7th at Namboole. Cranes top Group L which consists of Tanzania, Lesotho and Cape Verde. They beat Cape Verde 1-0 in the opening game of the qualifiers last year.

Midfielder Moses Opondo who features for Vendsyssel in Denmark also made his debut for Cranes against Niger.

The two defeats against Niger and Central African Republic meant that Desabre has failed to register his second victory as the national team coach ever since he was unveiled towards the end of last year.

He has been in charge of nine games but has managed to win only one game, against São Tomé and Príncipe 3-1 in a friendly. He has picked four draws and four defeats.
