Babu bounces back as local tennis boss

Over the weekend Cedric Babu bounced back as the new chairman of Uganda Tennis Association (UTA).

Babu who has been at the helm of tennis in Uganda for close to seven years, was re-elected during the annual general meeting (AGM) that was held at the Uganda Olympic Committee headquarters.

The AGM that was attended by several clubs and schools will see Babu and his executive have a four year term.

He will be deputised by Dean Kibirige and Careay Karungi as the first and second vice chairpersons respectively.

Matthias Nalyanya and Joseph Omukundwa were voted in as secretary general and deputy secretary general.

Patrick Onyango will be the treasurer while national team coach John Oduke represents the coaches on the executive. Edward Odocken and Osmond Atwine represent schools and women on the executive.

Babu's re-election comes a week after Uganda hosted one its biggest tennis events. The four week ITF Uganda Pro Circuit Tournament played at the Lugogo tennis complex saw over 200 players taking part.
