Fire guts hall at Makerere

Fire gutted Mary Stuart Hall, a girls' residence at Makerere University.
According to the Police, the fire started from the canteen on the ground floor.
Police spokesperson says three female residents were injured as they tried to escape from the fire.

He commended the students and other people who alerted the Police., saying seven trucks were dispatched and managed to put the fire out.

"The investigation teams and scenes of crimes officers are on ground to do that bit of the investigation. We commend the students and citizens who called the police quickly enabling us to quickly respond. We wish the injured students quick recovery and parents need to calm down as there is no cause for alarm," he said.
