There is a growing sense of maturity in how the Lady Cricket Cranes are negotiating T20 tournaments.

Their turnaround in fortunes came last year when they won the ICC Africa Women's World Cup T20 qualifier for the first time in history formed a strong foundation for future success.

At their level now, the quest for global dominance can surely be a realistic target; they are Africa's sole representative at the ICC Women's World Twenty20 qualifier July in Netherlands.

After defeating Zimbabwe by 7 runs in the Zimbabawe T20 Challenge, the girls are enjoying their build up to the global qualifier.

Zimbabwe has and remains a giant on the continent and seeing that Uganda can beat them on different occasions says much about the strength of Frank Othieno's team.

Uganda's tail-enders Immaculate Nakisuyi and Franklyn Najjumba combined for 62 scoring 34 and 28 respectively on the way to Uganda's 104.

Zimbabwe's chasing efforts were restricted to 97 all out courtesy of Rita Musamali's  2 wickets. Pellagia Mujaji had reached 24 from 17 balls before she was run out as Uganda lived to their status as African Champions.
