Uganda Rugby 7s team has been drawn against Samoa in a pre-round of 16 in the Rugby Sevens World Cup due July 20 to 22 in USA.

The team will face England if they win. However, they will drop to the Bowl Cup if they lose to Samoa.

Rugby manager Michael Wandera has high hopes that Uganda will go past Samoa because the boys have enough experience to win games.

A win for Uganda against England will see the team qualify for the quarterfinals, while the loser joins the challenge trophy.

"We have played them before. We know their playing style and I'm confident that we have the potential to defeat them," Wandera said.

In December 2016, Uganda lost to Samoa 27-19 in the group stages and 29-5 in the knockout of the Bowl Cup.

Eight countries including South Africa, Fiji, New Zealand, Scotland, England, Argentina, USA and Australia get a bye to the round of 16.
