The Government has issued warning indicating that several areas in the country are likely to face constant floods.

According to information from the Office of the Prime Minister, the month of April marks the peak of the March to May ‘long rains' seasonal rainfall.

"The general public is informed that the rain season is currently at its peak. People are strongly advised not to walk or allow a driver or bodaboda rider to take them through a flooded road or bridge, even if when the floods appear very low below the knees or rim of the car," said Martin Owor, the commissioner of relief, disaster preparedness and management.

Owor called upon people to always wait for 15 minutes to walk or drive when it has just rained.

"It takes only about 15 minutes for most flash floods to clear. Please wait until the flash floods have cleared," noted Owor.

Last week, floods cut off the road at Kyambogo junction, with water levels rising up to several inches in some sections.
