KAMPALA - Tributes have been paid to Nancy Caroline Kangwagye Mwesigwa, an employee of Housing Finance Bank, who died on Tuesday.
Kangwagye died of breast cancer.
Among the several mourners who eulogized Kangwagye during her requiem mass at Our Lady of Africa Catholic Church, Mbuya on Friday was the Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.
In his message, which was delivered by the finance minister, Matia Kasaija, Rugunda described Kangwagye as a woman of extra-ordinary qualities, who balanced her roles as a mother, wife and professional banker.
He urged people to emulate her professionalism and good will.

The managing director of Housing Finance Bank, Mathias Katamba, spoke highly of Kangwagye’s professional acumen, determination and strength.
“She always reported early for duty. She would do her work with joy, even if she was not feeling well. We shall always miss her motivation,” he said.
Rev Fr Paulino Mondo, who presided over the requiem mass, praised Nancy for her heart-rooted friendship and commitment to the Catholic faith.

The Vision Group CEO, Robert Kabushenga, commended Kangwagye for being faithful to the marital vows that she took at her wedding day. He also thanked Kangwagye husband, Noah Edwin Mwesigwa, for loving and taking care of Nancy in good and bad times.
Other high-profile people who paid tribute to Kangwagye include the former prime minister Amama Mbabazi, counsel Shonubi Musoke and the Old Boys of St Mary’s College, Kisubi.

Nancy Caroline Kangwagye Mwesigwa was born Kampala in 1973. She is the first daughter of Kate Kangwagye and Ambassador Gabriel Kangwagye, the Senior Adviser of President Yoweri Museveni on diplomacy.
She went to Mount St Mary’s College, Namagunga, Trinity College Nabbingo and Makerere University, where she graduated with a degree in social sciences.
She started her work with Wina Classic Uganda and then moved to Standard Chartered Bank, where she worked until 2007. She then moved to United Bank of Africa and, Equity Bank, before finally joining Housing Finance Bank.
Kangwagye was married to Noah Edwin Mwesigwa and had two children.
