MUKONO - The horrid beheading of a toddler in Mukono district has left Police investigators "in shock".

Two men have been arrested in connection to the Sunday morning murder, Police said.

Key suspect Livingstone Ssebunya is believed to have beheaded his two-year-old step-daughter aided by accomplices.

The other man in Police custody is Robert Kato, who is also being held at Mukono Police Station.

According to Police, the two suspects are residents of Zingola fishing camp, Kome sub-county in Mukono district.

"This murder of a two-year-baby early Sunday morning has left police investigators in shock," Police said in a statement.

When Police received a report of a missing baby girl, they mounted a hunt that had blood stains lead them to the body.

The grisly discovery was in a bush some three metres away from a shrine belonging to Ssebunya.

Once under arrest, the suspect, according to Police, confessed to having committed the crime following "misunderstandings between him and the victim's mother".

"Njakukola ekintu kyotalyelabira mubulamu bwo [I will do something you will never forget]," Ssebunya had reportedly warned his ex-lover after three months of a rocky two-year relationship.

"Our teams visited the scene of crime, gathered statements, suspects charged with murder under Section 188 of the Penal Code Act and their files are pending advice from the Resident State Attorney," Police said.
