The Police Tribunal has said it is not ready to deliver its judgment on former Buyende District Police Commander, Mohammad Kirumira.

This is contrary to its earlier communication that said it would deliver its judgment today (Tuesday). It should be noted that this is the third time court has adjourned his judgment.

“We are not yet ready. There are three judgments which require a lot of time and we want to finish them all at the same time,” said Dennis Odwong Odongpiny, the court chairperson.

Kirumira, also an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), is currently battling two charges of unlawful or unnecessary exercise of authority and one on corrupt practice.

Whereas the anticipated judgment was scheduled to take place on Thursday last week at the Naguru Police headquarters, Odongpiny said court was unable to sit because one of its members was absent.

Initially, 28 charges mainly of unlawful or unnecessary exercise of authority and corrupt practice were brought against Kirumira. But Police gradually dropped the charges that did not have sufficient evidence.

Other members of the tribunal include Susan Kasingye, a Senior Superintendent of Police and Olivia Wawire a Commissioner of Police.
