Dolphins top DStv Junior Swimming Championship

The Dolphins Swim Club Kampala swimmers dominated the three-day event under intense pressure from the Seals and Silverfin.

A great show of talent was exhibited as the second edition of the DStv Dolphins Junior Swimming Championship ended at the Gems Cambridge International School pool on Sunday.

The Dolphins Swim Club Kampala swimmers dominated the three-day event under intense pressure from the Seals and Silverfin, topping both the girls’ and boys’ categories in the event that attracted over 300 swimmers of 11years and below.

Dolphins’Shalom Birungi in the 7&Under, David Sine in the 8 years, Karimah Katemba (10yrs girls) were the top swimmers in each of those categories, collecting 40, 42 and 35 points respectively.

In the 9 years’ boys category, the Dolphins were very dominant with Jordan Ssamula, Daniel Nuwagaba and Ethan Ssengooba emerging the top swimmers with 43, 33 and 30 points respectively.

The Seals club who finished second overall was also dominant in the girls’ 9 years category, with Amelia Mudanye and Natalie Lutalo picking a combined 75 points where Silverfin’s Inell Ba, Raya (24pts) was third overall.

Seals’ John Kafumbe was also unbeatable in the boys’ 11 years, where he topped with 45 points ahead of Dolphins’ Shane Birungi and Lionel Agaba.

Silverfin’s Raya Angemi, 8, beat Seals’ Elaine Ssali and Lifetime’s Macrine Kalombo with 43 to 33 and 28 points respectively while Yonah Lumonya (43pts) was top in the 10 years category ahead of Dolphins’ Duan Chengze (33pts) and Blue Marines’ Matteo Tin Wan (24pts).

White Heather in the 11 year’s category also bested Seals Neema Kangi and Dolphins’ Sophia Nagayi with 43, 37 and 26 points respectively.

The event was sponsored by DStv, Gems, Movit, Harris International (Riham), Diamond Trust Bank, Davis & Shirtlif and Speke Resort Munyonyo.
