It's between Dolphins and Seals as junior gala ends

On the second day of the three-day championship, swimmers from both clubs dominated most of the races

The battle is between Dolphins and the Seals Club as the curtain draws for the DStv Dolphins Juniors Swimming Championship at the Gems Cambridge International School pool on Sunday.

On the second day of the three-day championship, swimmers from both clubs dominated most of the races with Dolphins' Jordan Ssamula, David Sine and Michelle Sine grabbing 8 gold medals between themselves.

Ssamula won the 25m back (19.46), 25m fly (17.18) and 100m IM (1:27.56) beating team mates Daniel Nuwagaba and Eathan Ssengooba and Sailfish's Arthur Mwase in each of the three races.

Sine (20.26) beat Sailfish's Suubi Musoke (22.44) and Silverfins' Isaiah Kuc (28.82) in the 25m back as well as Derrick Turinawe and Frederick Luzinda in both the IM and butterfly races.

 



Seals Club's John Kafumbe and Amelia Mudanye were also in commanding form in the 9 and 11 years categories claiming six gold between them, including a dominant display by the Seals' girls in the 25m back and 100m IM, where Mudanye, Natalie Lutalo and Simmona Kagugube stood out.

In the 25m back and 100m IM, Mudanye, Lutalo and Kagugube clocked 20.92, 21.02, 21.46 and 1:32.69, 1:32.76, 1:41.31 respectively to complete a 1, 2, 3 finish in both races.

The Dolphins and Seals also dominated the relay races with the former winning six of the ten relays.

The Silverfins also had some golden performances of their own with Yonah Lumomya and White Heather producing energetic displays in the 11-year old categories, in the 50m back, 200m IM and the 50m butterfly races.
