KAMPALA - The parish-priest of Christ the King Church, Msgr Gerald Kalumba, has asked Christians and all Ugandans to always retain their faith and hope in God.

He said God was in full control of the events, which was why people needed not to despair in the face of the country's problems.

"We have enormous problems such as corruption, violence, murders, land-grabbing, poverty and tribalism. However, none of these problems should make us lose our faith. We should continue to have courage, to be able to triumph over our problems, just like our Lord Jesus triumphed over evil by his death and resurrection," Kalumba said.

He was delivering his homily during the celebrations for the Ecumenical Public Way of the Cross at Christ the King Church, Kampala on Good Friday.

Kalumba later asked Ugandans to recommit themselves to the national motto: For God and My Country, as they commemorate the resurrection of Jesus.
