Jonan ‘Joker' Turigye improved his winning record in finals to beat Simon ‘Computer' Lubulwa to the 2018 Pool Easter Cup that took place at Georgina Gardens Kasubi.

The three times National Open Champion added another layer to his legend when he comfortably beat Lubulwa by 7-5 on Saturday night to keep his record in the finals blemish less.

The veteran raced to a 3-0 lead minutes into the contest which left his very talented opponent trying to get back at him.

At some point in the match Lubulwa looked destined to level the game, but Turigye's experience in such situations helped him manage his lead in the race to seven games.

After the match Turigye spoke less of his achievement but more on trying to usher in a new generation of talents in pool.

"Winning again felt good but I want to try and help the young talents that are coming up and just help them to improve," Turigye said.

His opponent was also very impressed with his display and how he handled the match in general.

"Joker was the better player and his love for pool came through, I don't think there is a day that goes by that he doesn't play pool his strength was evident in our match today," Lubulwa said.

Angela Busingye won the women's title bringing a three year trophy drought to a screeching halt.

Busingye ends trophy drought

Busingye who is ranked third in Uganda's women's game lost two significant finals in 2017. She lost the Independence Cup and the Kampala Open which made things that much harder for her.

"I am speechless because it has been long, since 2015 I have been going to finals and I lose.  Last year was hard because I lost two major finals," Busingye said.

The build-up to the new season continues with the Winners' Cup at De Arena on Namirembe road.
