Ssekandi roots for stronger ties with India

The Vice-President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has hailed relations between India and Uganda as historic and called upon the two counties and their peoples to build on the existing brotherliness to cement a stronger connection between the two countries.

While meeting his Indian counterpart Venkaiah Naidu at his office in Delhi today, Ssekandisaid Uganda is home to over 20,000 Ugandans of Indian origin, which he said presents a great opportunity for both countries to bolster a strong relationship that will benefit everyone.

He encouraged more business persons to consider investing in Uganda saying areas of agro processing and value addition, health and ICT would be key in cementing relations between the two countries.

He also called for further cooperation in human resource development, technological transfer between India and Uganda saying Uganda can benefit from India's experience in its bid to transform the lives of its people.

The Indian Vice-President pledged his Government's commitment and willingness to work with Uganda in all possible ways that can further improve relations between the two countries.

Venkaiah also commended Uganda for ratifying its commitment to the International Solar alliance.
