Justin Ligyalingi denies looking forward to more time to perfect his swing when he finally leaves his post as CEO of cricket body UCA in the coming weeks.

"In Magoola, we don't have a golf course," joked Ligyalingi, referring to his village in Bugiri district, which he has teasingly cited as his next destination upon leaving the UCA.

A big golf fan and even more a cricket lifer, Ligyalingi will usher in another league season as the 2018 Jazz Safari Men's League gets underway today with JACC taking on Soroti Blazer at Kyambogo with the knowledge that this is the last of a tradition he's supervised for the last eight years.

"I'm not emotional about it," Ligyalingi revealed. "We have put in place good structures and if I became emotional it would mean I don't trust the team and system we have built to keep on performing.

"I treat my departure as a normal thing because when you start something it has to end and you move on."

Ligyalingi's successor will be announced at the end of the on-going recruitment process at some point next month and there is no doubt in the mind of the current CEO that that person will be suited for the task.

"The recruitment process has been thorough and there are good foundations in place to help whoever comes in to do well," Ligyalingi added.

"The report of the recruitment committee will be handed over the board in the next two weeks."

From which point the process to finalise Ligyalingi's exit will be completed and the new CEO disclosed, opening a new chapter of sorts for Uganda cricket.
