"I did not drag the king or kingdom to court. I filed a suit against Andrew Byakutaga because he is in that office illegally," Lukumu told the New Vision before court started the hearing of the application.

The Masindi Chief Magistrate Simon Kintu has dismissed an application seeking to halt Bunyoro's prime minister Andrew Byakutaga to execute his duties as the premier.

On January 15th, 2018, the Omukama appointed Byakutaga replacing Norman Lukumu who had served for two and half years.

Byakutaga was tasked to work hand in hand with the royal commission to execute duties of the kingdom pending the appointment of other cabinet members.

However, on February 18, 2018, Lukumu filed a suit at the court alleging that Byakutaga was in office illegally.

He later filed an application seeking for an interim injunction halting Byakutaga from performing in the capacity of the premier.

Earlier on, there were speculations that Lukumu had dragged the kingdom to court.

"I did not drag the king or kingdom to court. I filed a suit against Andrew Byakutaga because he is in that office illegally," Lukumu told the New Vision before court started the hearing of the application.

However, Kintu dismissed the application citing insufficient evidence from Lukumu to prove that he would suffer damages when not in office.

The application was dismissed pending determination of the main suit.

After the dismissal, Byakutaga called upon all people in Bunyoro to work hand in hand for the betterment of the kingdom.
