A somber mood hung over Uganda Christian University (UCU) on Wednesday evening following the death of a third year Mass Communication student.
According to a statement from the University, Ritah Namakola, registration number S14B04/507 succumbed to Pneumonia and Ulcers.
The head of UCU's Mass Communication department, Monica Chibita who described Namakola's death as a big blow, disclosed that she had been unwell for some time.
Joseph Kiva one of the deceased's lecturers said he was shaking after receiving the sad news that his student had died. "I last heard a word from her on March 11when she told me that she was unwell and we prayed for her to get well. I cannot believe this now," Kiva said.
Namakola had been working as an intern at the Parliament of Uganda during the ongoing holiday. The university said she will be buried on Friday March 23 in Buwalasi Sub County, Sironko District.
"Please uphold her family and friends in your prayers and may her soul Rest In Peace," the statement said.
