Lira's most wanted suspect nabbed

LIRA: The most wanted suspected assassin who has eluded arrest for years in Lira, has been finally arrested.

Lira Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Robert Abak, who is the chairperson of District security committee confirmed the arrest of Oscar Onapa. Onapa was arrested in the wee hours of Thursday morning in a yet to be disclosed location.

Onapa, who remained a fugitive for years, is wanted for series of murders, including the December 20, 2016 murder of a businessman Alex Epet at Central Park Village, Ojwina Division in Lira Municipal Council where his wife Jasinta Awino confessed to and was sentenced to 21 years under plea bargain this February.

His son Isaac Okello, who is also implicated pleaded not guilty and is yet to be tried in the next session of the High Court.

The RDC said they are investigating information that Onapa has been conniving with Police officers to help him elude arrest.
