The motorsport fraternity has been urged to plant trees and protect the environment.

With the battleground set for the FIM Central Africa Motocross Championship (FIM CAC) on Easter Saturday and Sunday, the motorsport fraternity has been urged to plant trees and protect the environment.

The Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) president Dusman Okee made the appeal yesterday at the launch of the fi rst round of the FIM CAC due on Easter weekend at the Uganda Sports Arena Busiika, Luweero.

"We and those machines do release a lot of carbondioxide and these trees help by producing oxygen for us, besides providing shade for us and a conducive atmosphere," Okee said.

"Every year we organise events under various themes and this year's theme will be "Protecting the environment," Okee added, before leading officials and riders to plant a tree. Meanwhile, Arthur Blick Jr. assured Ugandans that Team Uganda is strong enough and ready to overcome the Kenya challenge.

"The Kenyans always bring the cream of their riders, but our team is strong and has been beefed up with the Orland brothers Stav, Aviv and Alon who are available for the race," Blick said.

The trio do race in the Califonia in USA and their presence adds value on team Uganda.
