Uganda to send tennis team to Montenegro

The country's appearance at the international event follows clearance by the International Tennis Federation.

Uganda is expected to send a ladies tennis team to the Federation Cup in Montenegro on April 4.

The country's appearance at the international event follows clearance by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) after the Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) cleared outstanding debts with the international bodies.

The ITF subscription comes with various benefits for the local tennis fraternity gets such as grants for the players to participate in various ITF junior circuits, participation in the Davis Cup and Fed Cup events, admission of players to ITF training centers in Burundi and Morocco, grants for coaches course, selection of talented players on to ITF/Grand Slam development fund junior touring teams.  

ITF also provides equipment such as rackets, strings, nets, balls and many others if a national association is affiliated to them.
