KAMPALA - The Police Flying Squad is investigating circumstances under which Derrick Mukyenga Musoni went missing Police spokesperson Emilian Kayiima has revealed.

Pictures of Mukyenga have been viral on social media, with friends appealing to people with information leading to his whereabouts to offer it.

Mukyenga reportedly went missing on March 4.

Kayima said the Flying Squad, which was working closely with the family, had made great strides in the investigations.

Details about Mukyenga remain scanty as Police and family declined to divulge them.

“All I can tell you is that he is a resident of Kampala and his file was opened at Kampala Metropolitan Police, we are investigating the matter!” Kayima said.

Mukyenga’s missing comes before the country could recover from the gruesome murder of Susan Magara, who was kidnapped and held captive for close to three weeks.

Magara’s body was recovered on February 27 at Kigo on Entebbe Road.

In February, at least six families reported to have had their relatives missing.

A report from the Police Flying Squad shows that 24 cases of kidnap were reported to Police in 2017.

Whereas 15 of these people were rescued alive, one was found dead and the eight are yet to be found.

Kayima urges people to continue working with the Police in order to bring criminals to book.

He also asked people to always report to the security agency as soon as they have their suspicion about any missing person, adding that quick responses to such are usually helpful in investigations.
