WAKISO - The Police are stuck with the bodies of two armed men who were shot dead in the city suburbs of Bweyogerere as they attempted to rob businesswoman, Josephine Agaba Wabyoona.

When contacted by New Vision the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, said they are yet to identify the bodies of the robbers, who have no identification documents.

Owoyesigire said they would have used a motorcycle the robbers used for executing the crime to identify them, but they got information that it belonged to a bodaboda cyclist whom they reportedly put on gun point to drive them.

However, Owoyesigire declined to disclose the name of the bodaboda cyclist, saying it would jeopardise investigations.

Owoyesigire revealed that they recovered sh180,000, two knives and masks, SMG gun with cartridges and two mobile phones from the robbers, which he said could help them identify them.

When asked whether they could not identify them using their cellphones, Owoyesigire said their phones had been handed over to experts.

Owoyesigire further Wabyoona has since been discharged from Gwatiro Hospital in Bweyogerere, Wakiso district, where she has been admitted.

When contacted, a close relative, who preferred anonymity, revealed that Wabyoona had slightly improved.

"I cannot say much but she was discharged from the hospital and can ably speak," the source said.

However, the source wondered why the Police claims to have recovered sh180,000 yet Wabyoona had over sh1m.

"She had sh150,000 in her wallet, sh500,000 in shop safe and over sh1m she had picked from the bank, but they only gave her sh180,000. We are now wondering who took the rest of the money, yet the robbers were killed," she said.

On March 1, 2018 at about 2:00pm, Wabyoona was attacked by robbers, who stabbed her in an effort to rob her of her money.

According to Police, Wabyoona had just returned to her shop after making transaction in the bank when she was attacked.

The gunmen allegedly ordered her to surrender the money she had, before stabbing her.

Wabyoona was rescued by officers on a Police patrol van when she called out for help.
