Broad day armed robbers scare residents

On Thursday, at about 1:30pm, two robbers entered one of the offices at Wabyona properties, a real estate company in Bweyogere, Wakiso district and attacked the manager, Joselyn Agaba, 40.

Some business people around Bweyogere are living in fear for their lives, following an incident in which two robbers attacked a business woman during day time.

On Thursday, at about 1:30pm, two robbers , entered one of the offices at Wabyona properties, a real estate company in Bweyogere in Wakiso district, opposite Africa Oil petrol station, attacked the manager, Joselyn Agaba, 40, and she sustained deep injuries on the neck.

In her interview with Saturday Vision, Agaba, mother of two said when the two men entered her office, they demanded for money and she told them that there was money in her assistant's drawer. One quickly moved to the drawer and picked out all the money.

 "I don't know how much they took from the drawer, and then they asked whether my handbag had money. I handed it to them and they took 200 dollars. Then they said they were going to kill me. They told me to lie on the floor. I was facing the floor, then one of them stood over me, lifted my neck and started cutting," she narrated.

However, the robbers were not lucky; they were killed by police as they tried to run away.

Business people speak out

A one Halima, who works in the inventory offices run by National Water and Sewerage Corporation on the same building, said they are scared of the insecurities going on in the country, to the extent that people have started robbing in day light, in addition to owning guns.

"There is a lot of crime and insecurity in this country, and where do these people get guns from? The incident that took place here on Thursday was scary; bullets were flying the entire place," she said

She, however, also faulted the manager of the building(Agaba), for not having a professional security guard, adding that the one they have only works during the day, but he has no any protection like a gun.

Gervasio Turyaguma, a fruit vendor said "When the thieves starting firing bullets, people were so scared that everyone started running in search for a safe place to hide. Since the incident happened, people around here are worried that what if these two robbers were part of a bigger group which may continue to terrorize people in the area".

"Police needs to intensify security operations in the area to make sure people and their businesses are protected," he added.

Francis Bogere said what happened has left the residents scared of who the next target will be, and called upon the police to intensify security in the area.

By press time, Agaba's condition had stabilized and was yet to be discharged
