VP Ssekandi urges parents to educate children

Ssekandi said the Government is committed in ensuring that education is a major tool in the fight against poverty.

The Vice-president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has called upon parents to prioritise the education of children saying a literate society is a prerequisite for social transformation.

Speaking during cerebrations to make 20 years of Kyazanga Modern Primary School in Lwengo district, Ssekandi pledged Government commitment in creating an enabling environment for the provision of quality education and commended private schools for complementing Government efforts in the education sector.

Ssekandi also commended the UK Frampton Park Baptist Church and Joy For Humanity International Organisation for supporting the school and the neighbouring community with empowerment programs through direct financing to some of the pupils and needy families in Kyazanga area.

He also appealed to teachers to continue using the classrooms in inculcating discipline and positive character among those that pass through their hands and asked parents to be interested in the learning of their children to ensure that they grow into responsible citizens.
