PIC: Soroti municipal council authorities want washing bays to have toilets that their staff and customers can use
HEALTH
SOROTI - Soroti municipal council authorities have vowed to close mushrooming washing bays without necessary facilities.
This follows a public outcry that the majority of washing bays in the municipality do not have trenches to drain water and toilets to be used by employees and customers.
Residents, who spoke to New Vision on condition of anonymity claim that the staff of these washing bays defecate in surrounding bushes, which puts lives of people at risk of acquiring diseases.
However, the deputy mayor, Moses Ecuru, noted that they have directed division assistant town clerks to gazette planned washing bays for proper planning.
Ecuru added that any illegal washing bay will be closed down.
