Karamojong nomads in Amuria advised to take their children to school

The children of the herdsmen loiter in the community instead of joining government schools to study as their parents look after cattle.

Following the influx of Karamojong herdsmen in Kapelebonyg in Amuria district, the authorities in Teso have implored the herdsmen to register their children in school.

Ketty Akol, the district speaker Amuria expressed concern over the fate of the Karamojong children who are not in school yet there are schools.

Hundreds of Karamojong herdsmen are in Teso looking for pasture and water for their cattle but they are not concerned about the education of their children.

Akol advised the Karamojong to ensure they register their children for free education for the good of their future.

"In Kapelebonyg we have John Elur Secondary School, Odukur and Kapelebonyg Ppimary schools among other and I encourage the Karamang community to take their children to school," said Akol.
