Dan Sserunkuma scored twice as Vipers beat Mbarara City 2-0 on tuesday in Kitende to go top of the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Sserunkuma who was also named the Forte bet man of the match, took his tally to nine goals to top the scoring chart.
The former Express striker would have scored a hattrick, but he missed a penalty in the dying minutes of the game after Ashraf Bamuturaki was fouled.
The victory took Vipers to 35 points, two points above SC Villa and three points more than KCCA. But Villa and KCCA have games in hand and they were not in action on Tuesday.
Vipers who are currently on form, have won all their last five games in all competitions and have scored eleven goals and conceded two.
Elsewhere, Soana settled for twoo all draw with Kirinya Jinja SS at Kavumba, while Onduparaka beat BUL 1-0 at Green Light stadium in Arua.
