Bugembe stadium in Jinja will host the opening game of The FUFA Drum' competition between Busoga and Bugisu Provinces on February, 24.
This was confirmed by the organising committee chairperson Rogers Byamukama.
"Busoga region is very privileged and undoubtedly blessed to hold the official opening of The FUFA Drum tournament which comes along with various objectives ranging from spotting raw football talent to celebrating our ancestry," stated Byamukama
"Bugembe stadium will be the centre of attraction for the opening weekend of The FUFA Drum. We expect high profile dignitaries for this match. I expect a close contest on the day, but we shall put in place a good plan for the day."
The opening game will go for sh3000 (ordinary tickets) and sh10.000 (VIP).
The FUFA Drum is a newly created football tournament that will be played among the 16 provinces in Uganda, starting this month.
The provinces include Buganda, Lango, Tooro, Karamoja, Kampala, Ankole, Bukedi, Sebei, Busoga, Bugisu, Kigezi, Rwenzori, West Nile, Bunyoro,Teso and Acholi.
The provinces have been placed into four groups and each will be required to play six games in the group stages both home and away.
The top two teams in each group will proceed to the two legged-quarter final.
The semifinals will also be played on a-home-away basis, while the finals will be one-leg match at a predetermined location.
