Doping test to be mandatory in handball

Handball players should ready for doping testS this season, Fred Balenzi, the Uganda Handball Federation (UHF) competition committee told players at the closing ceremony of the Evergreen Open Handball tournament.

"Avoid using substances that the medical staff do not know about because you may fail a doping test," Barenzi told the players.

Meanwhile, the federation is confident it will meet its target of expanding the sport beyond Kampala.

Saudha Babirye, the federation secretary was speaking after the coaching and refereeing course at Layibi College Gulu.

Babirye said 16 people sat for coaching and referees exams.

"The people we are training, will help us achieve our target of spreading the sport," she said.

"We shall now be delegating duties and this will help to reduce on the costs involved."

She said they are plan to hold more training workhops in Mbarara, Busenyi, Soroti and Jinja.
