With nine fixtures remaining to end of the league, it is stil early to determine who the champion will be.
However, beating Betway Kobs has given Pirates’ coach Bobby Musinguzi hope that his team can win this year’s Nile Special Premier Rugby League title.
Musinguzi said after the 28-11 win over Kobs on Friday that took them to the top of the league, has motivated the boys to go for the trophy.
“It was a tight game, we were denied a bonus point, but four points is good enough to give us hope because we have concluded the first round on top of the table standing," Musinguzi said.
Pirates are top of the table with 37points, two ahead of Kobs (35pts) and three ahead of third placed Rhinos (34pts.) in the 10-team league.
Raymond Emanzi managed two tries, Ivan Magomu a try and Joel Anguyo added three penalties and two conversions for the hosts, while Aaron Jurua and James Ijongat managed a try and two penalties respectively for the Kobs.
