UAF elective assembly At UOC offices, Lugogo Incumbent Domenic Otucet could have no challenger as he seeks a third term for the Uganda Athletics Federation presidency this weekend.

No one has so far shown intentions in challenging Otucet in the electoral process where nominations are on the floor of the assembly.

The UAF executive serves for a four year term. Formerly a vice-president, Otucet rose to the presidency in 2010.

Months to the last elections in 2014 former world junior 1500m champion Julius ACHON showed interest in the top job but withdrew at the last minute.

Achon, currently a Member of Parliament for Otuke County, complained at the time that the federation's electoral process unfairly locked out candidates suspected to be against the incumbent.

Otucet is confident of having an easy run back to the presidency.

"I have performed very well. Athletics is today Uganda's gold medal winning sport. That's exactly why I have to go for another term."

Otucet also cites Uganda's hosting of the World Cross Country last year as a shining example that is still being applauded.

"To date we are still being congratulated. Africa sees it as a huge success for the continent. We did the continent proud," stated Otucet.

From the world meet, Otucet also cites Uganda's first world cross country gold won by junior Abraham Kiplimo.

One of the places that will have a new face will be the treasurer's post.

This will be a replacement for long serving Godfrey Nuwagaba who passed on in October. Nuwagaba was also Uganda Olympic Committee treasurer.

"We need someone with a steady income who is also ready to contribute towards building athletics. That person should also be based either in or near the city," explained Otucet.

"We don't want a needy person who is looking for a job."
