Woman burns husband

Oduro, who sustained burns all over his body, said he was allegedly burnt by his wife after informing her about the death of her co-wife’s mother.

MAYUGE - A 40- year-old man is in nursing burns at St. Francis Hospital, Buluba in Baitambogwe sub-county in Mayuge district after he was burnt by his second wife.

Sam Oduro, a bodaboda cyclist and a resident of Nabalongo village in Baitambogwe sub-county was allegedly burnt with hot water by his wife, Phionah Nabirye, 22.

Oduro, who sustained burns all over his body, said he was allegedly burnt by his wife after informing her about the death of her co-wife's mother.

"I received shocking news that my mother-in- law (the mother of my first wife) had died. I informed my second wife about it and she comforted me," Oduro said.

He added that in the evening, he informed her that he was going to attend the burial the following day which she supported.

Oduro said his wife was calm and showed sympathy.

"However, at around 9:00 pm, she told me to go and bathe. While I was in the bathroom, she poured hot water on me," Oduro said.

Oduro and Nabirye had been married for four years.

Oduro was rushed to a nearby clinic for first aid and later referred to St. Francis Hospital.

Dianah Namutunzi, the Mayuge district Police commander, said they are hunting for Nabirye.

"She took off after burning her husband," Namutunzi said, adding that Police was searching for her and when caught, she would charged accordingly.
