KAMPALA - Makerere University's 68th graduation ceremony is set to kick off Tuesday and run until Friday.

The oldest public unviersity on the land will graduate nearly 14,000 students over the course of four days.

The statistic, according to the university's Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, "is the largest number of students graduating at one congregation in the history of MAK[Makerere]".

As thousands of graduands await to receive their respective honours, Nawangwe has urged them to "put God first" in their pursue of success.

"I congratulate all the graduands and their parents/sponsors. You are the top brains of our country and a lot is expected of you. Put God first and always hold yourself in esteem and you shall surely succeed. Congratulations!" he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the new Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) executive was sworn in Monday at the university's main campus in Kampala.
