The first typical black African to win the Africa Rally Championship in 1999 and the only Ugandan at that! Charles Muhangi, remember the name.

In unexpected circumstances, the headstrong businessman has announced a comeback from retirement.

Having been on the sidelines for some time, the 1998 Pearl of Africa Champion is confident he can revive his old good days.

“I still have what it takes to get back to competitive rallying. I want to as well report that next year I will be right back” a visibly serious Muhangi stated during the launch of this year’s Lato Milk Mbarara Rally Wednesday at the Lato Milk offices in Kololo.

Older drivers have proved effective on the local scene. It is quite inspiring when Mzee Christakis Fitidis defied age to win last year’s National Rally Championship.
