End of year address: Museveni assures Ugandans on security

Dec 31, 2017

The President also said efforts are being undertaken to ensure that Police is free of criminal infiltration

President Yoweri Museveni has said one of the key challenges of 2017 was crime.

"A total of 23 young women were killed and these murderers were taking advantage of the gap in our security due to lack of cameras."

However, he said this has been fixed and assured Ugandans of security.

"I want to assure Ugandans of their security. UPDF launched an air attack on ADF in Eastern DRC. They got their punishment," he said.

The President also said efforts are being undertaken to ensure that Police is free of criminal infiltration. He also hailed the army for the effort in battling illegal fishing.

"Bad fishing should stop and will stop. In my opinion, if we want a good country, a leader who hobnobs in illegal fishing should lose their positions and be barred for several bisanja," he said.
