The institute (children's ward) was also given liquid soap and detergents for cleaning the ward.

While giving out the gifts on Thursday, Maureen Mwagale, the executive director of Kaana, a charity organization said the gifts were given out to put a smile on these children's faces.

"These kids are in a lot of pain, vulnerable and some have no hope of survival, by celebrating with them Christmas and putting a smile on their faces is worthy it," she said

"When you come to this ward, you see children who are in a lot of pain. These gifts put their smiles on their faces, and this makes us the caretakers happy as well," said Baluku.
