Bukooli central MP Solomon Silwanyi has denied burning his ex-girlfriend's car.

The legislator was taken to court by his ex-lover Kasifa Katono, who accuses him of deliberately setting her car on fire.

Silwanyi, however, says the car went up in flames following an accident. Katono wants sh18m compensation in damages.

Silwanyi, who has been appearing before the Nabweru Court Magistrate, Paul Watyama, agreed to having borrowed the car from Katono, but denied starting the fire which destroyed it.

Katono says the legislator was driven by envy to burn her spacio car, registration number UAW 496, on June 14 ,2015.

When tasked to explain why he did not immediately report the accident to Police and to the owner of the car, Silwanyi said he was seriously burnt and was not in proper position to report the incident.

Medical reports from IHK, however, state that he sustained minor burns on his left hand and head.

The Case has been adjourned to March  13, 2018.
