We shall not hand over power to opposition - Bantariza

Dec 05, 2017

"Losing power to Opposition is like losing child and wife in the labour room," Bantariza said.

The deputy head of Uganda Media Centre Col. Shabban Bantariza has said that members of Opposition are unexperienced and confused to be entrusted with power to lead this country.

Bantariza made the remarks on December 3 while addressing National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders from Elgon and Bukedi sub regions at Hill top hotel in Mbale town.

The meeting was attended by NRM district chairpersons, LC5 chairpersons, NRM mobilisers and security personnel.

"We can never entrust or hand over power to unexperienced and confused Opposition leaders because they have little knowledge to manage the country affairs. The only experienced person and able to manage this country is President Yoweri Museveni," Bantariza said.

"Losing power to Opposition is like losing child and wife in the labour room. Handing over power is sign of exposing our weakness and inability of NRM government can never attempt," he added.

Bantariza also noted that NRM government will never allow to hand over power, adding NRM Government must ensure continuity is guaranteed.

"We must not allow to lose power to foxes, but hand over to people that will make sure that continuity is guaranteed. We must hand over power to people that will protect us and be able to escort us back home," Bantariza said.

Bantaliza also noted that the current fights between LC3 chairpersons and sub-county chiefs are playing negative role as far as government programmes are concerned.

The meeting was aimed at making consultations from district leadership of the challenges they face, pledges made by president Museveni and benefits of NRM between 2016 general election to date.

Mbale district chairperson Bernard Mujasi noted NRM party was a sleeping elephant that had given chance to foxes to make noise.

"NRM is like elephant in Uganda, but at times we NRM leaders forget that we are the elephants and keep quiet giving chance to Oppositions to make a lot of noise. We should wake up and also make loudest noise because we have the numbers and power," Mujasi said

"The more we keep quiet we giving chance to foxes to tell lies to our communities. We should also make good use of the media to protect our images and tell people what NRM government has done for this country," Mujasi said.
