Rights body castigates Police on NGO raids

Bank accounts of 25 NGOs were recently frozen.

Human Rights Network Uganda has castigated security organs for raiding offices of civil society organisations (CSOs).

The  Bank of Uganda froze accounts of 25 NGOs on allegations that they have been receiving funding from abroad to sabotage the government. The offices of Action Aid were recently raided by security operatives. 

The executive director of HURINET, Mohammed Ndifuna, said NGOs are not enemies of the government, but partners working towards improving peoples standards of living.
