Uganda National U-20 team (Hippos) head coach Matia Lule has praised the level of competitiveness from his players. Lule made the remarks after today’s training session at Namboole were the Hippos are preparing for the COSAFA U-20 tournament.
The tournament designed for players under the age of 20 will be held from December 6 in Zambia.
“The level of competition is high and the response is good. In my assessment all the players are in good shape and they have been performing well. If they continue performing well the work of selecting the team will be simple,” Lule said.
Uganda who will take part in the annual tournament as a guest team, have been placed in Group A with hosts Zambia, Swaziland and Malawi.
The Hippos will have a trial game with the national senior side (Uganda Cranes) before they leave for Zambia on Monday.
Zambia beat hosts South Africa 2-1 in the final on December 16, 2016 played at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenberg to win their 11th Cosafa U20 Cup title.
