A 38-year-old man in Kabale district is in Police custody after allegedly defiling his 13-year-old daughter.

Denis Mucunguzi, a resident of Isingiro cell, Kyasano parish in Kamuganguzi sub-county, is accused of defiling the Primary Three pupil of Kyasano Primary School.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional Police spokesman, said Mucunguzi, who divorced with his wife a few years ago, has been living with his mother and his two children - the victim and her younger brother.

It is said he would return home drunk, chase away his mother and son and then defile his daughter.

Maate said Mucunguzi committed the act between October and November 2017.

"The victim reported the case to her teachers and to the Police and he was arrested on November 18," Maate said.

He said the Police have commenced investigations into the matter and once complete, the accused will be presented in court.

He said Mucunguzi faces charges of aggravated defilement and incest .
