Doctors strike: Police doctors deployed

Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said they will dispatch sixteen doctors to attend to patients

Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura issued the directive.

The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura has directed Police doctors to join UPDF doctors and attend to patients in government hospitals.

This follows a strike by doctors who demanding for a pay rise. For two weeks, they have failed to resolve their differences with government so as to resume work, leaving patients stranded in hospitals.

Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said they will dispatch sixteen doctors to attend to patients.

Kayima said the director of health services in Police, Dr Moses Byaruhanga has already received the directive.

"The Ministry of Health wrote to the Inspector General of Police and he gave the directive so we shall commit the doctors" Kayima said.
