After winning the Mountains of the Moon Rally and Hoima Rally, Hassan Alwi is targeting the Oryx Heart Beat Rally this weekend that will cover the districts of Masaka, Kalungu and Mpigi.

The event, which starts on Friday with scrutineering at Oryx in Lugogo and ends on Sunday in Masaka is the final round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) and will decide the 2017 NRC champion.

Alwi navigated by Enock Olinga in a Subaru N14 told New Vision Sport that he has rebuilt the car, fixed its gearbox and will be out to win his third NRC race of this season.

"We rebuilt our engine fixing in a competition gearbox and we are going to prove to the Mitsubishi Evo10s that Subaru is the car" Alwi said.

"We are not among the NRC title contenders, but we are not going to back off for anyone to win without sweating," he added.

Alwi also welcomed the return of Jas Mangat because he will be able to gauge his speed before next season because Mangat is the faster driver.

Christakis Fitidis navigated by Eric Nzamwita in the Mitsubishi Evo10 leads the NRC standings with 375 points, 70 points ahead of second placed Duncan Mubiru and 75 ahead of third placed Ronald Ssebuguzi.

The two day event will cover 145.2kms competitive stages and 120.7Ks liaison distance.
