Short story writing competition for children opens

It is organized by 7 Hills International School in partnership with Book Enthusiasts of Kampala

"Think you can write a winning story in 1000 words or less?" asks a message put out to pupils and students in various schools in and around greater Kampala.

This is announcing the Young Writers Short Story Competition for ages 10 to 14 for your chance to win submission to the International Writing Competition. Parents are encouraged to interest their childzren in the competition.

A prospective participant is required to write and submit a fiction story of 1000 (or less) words. Each submission will cost sh20,000. 

The competition, themed Author at Work, is organized by 7 Hills International School, Kololo, in partnership with Book Enthusiasts of Kampala.

Outstanding participants will win prizes, including a flight to Murchison Falls National Park, two-night stay at Red Chilli Camp and many book vouchers.

The deadline of entries is November 12, 2017. Awarding is slated for November 19 at 7 Hills International School, Kololo.

The full "Day of family literacy fun," will consist of various activities including live music, Puppet theatre, local storyteller, book swap, writing workshops, open mic, poetry slam, and book fair.
