Onyango, Sserunkuma nominated for CAF awards

This comes after him and former KCCA player Geoffrey Sserunkuma were named among the 30 players shortlisted by CAF for the same accolade this year.

Uganda Cranes captain Dennis Onyango has a chance to retain the African Player of the Year award that he won early this year.

This comes after him and former KCCA player Geoffrey Sserunkuma were named among the 30 players shortlisted by CAF for the same accolade this year.

The winner will be decided by votes from the head coaches/technical directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF, members of the CAF technical and development committee as well as the panel of media experts.
 
Sserunkuma joined Zambian side Buildcon after putting up a good performance for KCCA last season. The 34-year-old striker, who was the top scorer in the Azam Uganda Premier League with 21 goals, scored 31 goals last season for KCCA in all competitions.

Onyango was also vital during Uganda Cranes campaign in the World Cup Qualifiers.  He was also tremendous in his club Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions before they eliminated them in the quarterfinals.

The  winners  for  both  categories  will be  rewarded  at the awards gala that will be held on January  4, , 2017  in Accra, Ghana.
