The National Drug Authority (NDA) is set to host the 40th annual phamacovigilance centres that seeks to enhance patient care and safety in relation to the use of medicines.

The conference, scheduled to take place next week at the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo, is organised by World Health Organisation under the theme; Coalition for Supporting Pharmacovigilance in Resource Limited Settings: the Whole is Greater Than the Sum of its Parts.

Pharmacovigilance is the science related to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problem.

Helen Ndagije, the NDA director of product safety, said the meeting will also support public health programmes by providing reliable and balanced information for the effective assessment of the risk benefit profile of medicines.
